问题

新的研究表明，控制棘冠星鱼种群可能会促进珊瑚多样性。一个现场记录协议可以帮助跟踪它们的影响并为礁石管理提供信息。

他们在做什么

A printable one-page field log template (PDF or spreadsheet) with fields for date, location (GPS or reef name), number of starfish observed, type of coral affected, percentage of coral tissue remaining, and notes on visible coral recovery. Trialed by a small group of 5-10 divers at a single reef site over one month, coordinated by a local marine research group. 为什么重要

Hypothesis: A simple, standardized log increases the consistency and usefulness of field data on starfish feeding and coral recovery compared to unstructured notes or memory-based reporting. Proposed validation: Proposed pilot target: At least 80% of participating divers submit completed logs for 4+ dives each over one month. Baseline: No structured log in use. Success measured by number of usable logs and diversity of data captured, reviewed by the coordinator.
