What they are building

Create a paper-based checklist and illustrated guide for respectful hive management, piloted with 3-5 local beekeepers or gardening volunteers over one month. An experienced beekeeper would facilitate, and participants would record observations and challenges. Why it matters

Test whether the protocol reduces bee mortality or stress during hive inspections compared to conventional gloved methods, as measured by participant logs and bee behavior observations. Proposed validation: Proposed pilot target: At least 80% of participants report fewer than two incidents of bee harm per week over one month, compared to their baseline. Measured via weekly logs and facilitator review.
